According to the definition, management is a series of activities, processes and decisions applied to an organisation's resources, i.e. people and capital. They are intended to ensure that the organisation functions effectively to achieve its objectives. In simpler terms, we can say that management is an activity that enables objectives to be achieved in the most effective manner. It is also the art of proper work organisation. It allows the company to function efficiently using the knowledge and skills of its employees. It is also about learning how to run a business effectively.

Management is also the art of making choices. The great variety and dynamics of activities and changes occurring in the organisation's environment force managers to make constant decisions. Some of these will have an impact on day-to-day operations, while others will be strategic. Their effects will be known in the future. Only then will it be possible to determine whether these decisions were right or wrong. A good manager, equipped with knowledge and skills, does not shy away from making decisions and is not afraid of the resulting responsibility.
